Miguel Tio

At nine years of age, Miguel Tio realized that he was going to be a painter. He recalls Salvador Dali being a major influence in the early stages of his career and states he has a strong connection to the murals and sculptures of Michelangelo.

During his childhood, Tio’s mother was influential in introducing him to the spiritual world and “understanding spiritual phenomena.” Tio’s work embraces that influence of mystical worlds and explores the supernatural that has become an integral part of his paintings. His work explores effective juxtaposition of light and shadow while conveying the drama and complexities of the human body and spirit.
