Deanna Lee

 

Deanna was born in Carmel, New York, to parents who emigrated from China and Taiwan, and was raised in suburban Boston. She received degrees in art from Oberlin College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and she studied at the Rome campus of the Tyler School of Art.

 

She has had solo exhibitions at Wave Hill and PS122 in New York City, Artemisia Gallery in Chicago, Edward Williams College in New Jersey, and Earlville Opera House in upstate New York. Her work has appeared in numerous group shows, including Abrons Art Center, ArtBridge, Artists Space, Hun Gallery, Lower East Side Printshop, NURTUREart, Sikkema Jenkins Gallery, Society Contemporary Art, and ZieherSmith Gallery in New York City; Aron Packer Gallery, Hyde Park Art Center, Jan Cicero Gallery, and Klein Art Works in Chicago; and SPACES in Cleveland.

 

Deanna has received an Abbey Mural Workshop Fellowship from The National Academy, a BRIC Media Fellowship, a Manhattan Graphics Center scholarship, an Asia Society travel grant, and Chicago CAAP grants. She was a 2004 artist-in-residence at the Millay Colony for the Arts and a 2010 Alternate Associate Artist at Atlantic Center for the Arts. Her work was recently on view in Day Job at The Drawing Center. In September 2011, she will present a solo show at Lake George Arts Project.
