The Picture That Appraisal Team is led by Valerie A. Cooper, a member of the New England Appraisers Association, an Associate of the Appraisers Association of America and a graduate of New York University’s Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts program.
Our extended network of appraisers include highly qualified experts who complete appraisal reports that conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), of the Appraisal Foundation in Washington, DC., the organization charged by the United States Congress to promote quality appraisal standards and qualifications for appraisers. USPAP principles are recognized by appraisal bodies worldwide.
The types of Appraisal Reports we prepare include:
Insurance (Inventory, Damage, Loss)
Charitable Donation (Non-Cash Charitable Contributions)
Estate Valuation (With or Without Surviving Spouse)
These highly qualified experts have experience in all aspects of fine arts and decorative arts, including furniture, ceramics, and jewelry. We have additional specialty in the appraisal of photography and wine. In addition to each appraisal report being objective and well-researched, they include digital pictures, descriptions, measurements, current condition and a value for each item. In addition, information about the artist's background, provenance and exhibition history may be listed. Comparables selected for determining values are kept in the client's work file and can be requested at any time.
Our appraisal begins with scheduling an appointment for the objects to be examined, measured and documented. Our appraisal fees are based on an hourly rate and include time spent at a client’s location examining objects, conducting off-site research and preparing the final appraisal report. If you have questions about appraising your fine art, photographs, scultpure, antiques, or other objects, please contact us.
